The Refinement Process
Every image begins as an authentic moment. From there, each frame is carefully refined through composition, cleanup, and presentation while preserving the character that made it worth capturing in the first place.
Original Capture → Refined Gallery Edit → Signature Edit
Original Capture
This shot is just in front of the Helendorf at the final Southern Worthersee show in Helen, Georgia.
This is the day as it was. The original image is unedited including crop. Maybe a strong image on its own, but to my eyes - still missing something.
This is Dan’s Guards Red 964. You can just barely see the sawblade-like set of Rotiform OZT wheels he rocked that year.
Refined Edit
The image with a bit of added drama incorporating my editing style at the time with cool crushed shadows and added focus to the subject.
Refined edits maintain the energy of the moment retaining all of the people cars and life happening in that space and time.
Signature Edit
And now for something special. Not a complete departure from reality, but a fully focused image. This image include the exact same car with an even more refined edit before removing disctractions. Your car is the display piece.
How many differences can you spot between my Refined & Signature edits?
By envisioning the image without the things that draw your eye away and as if it were on its own individual shoot and removing large distractions like cars, people and monuments to more subtle retouching like removing reflections, decals and license plates to create an image worthy of hanging on your wall. My handling of my software may be clinical but my images are anything but sterilized.
